Also known as GBA
The Game Boy Advance brought Super Nintendo-class games to a handheld and played the older Game Boy library too. The original 2001 model had no screen light, which the clamshell GBA SP fixed in 2003 with a frontlight (and later, in the AGS-101 model, a much better backlight). The tiny Game Boy Micro followed in 2005.
The library is deep: Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed and LeafGreen, Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission, Golden Sun, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Pokémon Emerald is one of the most valuable common carts in retro gaming and one of the most counterfeited.
Fakes are everywhere for popular GBA titles. Genuine carts have a stamped number on the front label and a Nintendo-marked board, and the label should not be glossy. The AGS-101 SP is the most sought-after model to play on.
