About 8bitedge

Our Mission

8bitedge is built by Hardcore Retro Gamers, a small team of collectors who grew up on Atari, Nintendo, and Sega in the '80s and '90s. We started the project for ourselves — a way to stop missing fair-priced listings while we were at work, asleep, or just done refreshing eBay for the hundredth time that day.

It worked well enough that we figured other collectors might want in too, so we made it free and opened the door. We run 8bitedge as collectors first and developers second. The features that exist are features we actually use. The platforms we cover are the platforms our own collections sit on.

What We Do

8bitedge gives retro game collectors a working set of tools for finding listings, pricing them, and tracking them over time:

• Live Listing Feed — We scan listings from eBay and other marketplaces around the clock. Build a saved search and matching results show up in your feed shortly after they go live — before the good ones disappear.
• Price Intelligence — Every match is cross-referenced against current PriceCharting loose and CIB values, so you can tell whether a listing's actually a deal at a glance instead of guessing.
• Desktop Client — Our desktop edition runs in your system tray, filters listings against your searches, and pings you audibly when something hits — even when the app is minimized.
• Multi-Platform Coverage — From the Atari and NES era through Genesis, N64, and GameCube, we cover the platforms collectors actually focus on.

Our Story

Like many of you, we spent countless hours in front of CRT televisions, conquering dungeons, racing through circuits, and saving princesses. Those experiences shaped who we are, and the games we played became cultural touchstones that defined a generation.

As adults, we found ourselves drawn back to those classic games — not just for the gameplay, but for the memories they evoked. We started collecting, but quickly realized how challenging it could be to find good deals in an increasingly competitive market. That's when we decided to build the tools we wished existed: a platform that combines cutting-edge technology with a deep understanding of retro gaming culture.
